Neighborhood Charter School

Interior Design

On February 10, 2003, the Neighborhood Charter School, housed in a beautiful historic building originally constructed for the Atlanta Public School System in the historic Grant Park neighborhood, was substantially destroyed by fire. PRAXIS’s design for the reconstruction of the school allowed the school to leverage insurance funds and community-funded donations to preserve the existing historic exterior walls and construct a new, contemporary facility inside the historic walls. The exterior brick skin of the historic structure, built in 1907, was preserved and restored, with energy efficient windows of similar style replacing the original ones lost to the fire.
