In 2017, the University Library commissioned a facilities master plan for the downtown campus library. The purpose of the plan was to create a roadmap for meeting the current and future needs of an innovative research library in the context of significant opportunities and challenges. First among several challenges contemplated in the library master plan was the lack of sufficient study space for GSU students, especially during peak hours. The proposed addition and renovation would expand and enhance services currently provided by the Library for its students by converting an open parking lot, under Library North into a student study space.
